How to install (fix) and play Diablo 2 & LOD on Windows 8 and Mac OS X 10.7 Lion I scoured the internet for hours working on a solution to get Diablo 2 to work on windows 8 AND OS X 10.7 Lion. Now that I’ve figured it out, I’ve decided to post my finding to help anyone else out who might be having the same problems. Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction is the expansion to Diablo 2. The Lord is one of the strongest bosses of Diablo — defeat him! Get the direct, single DL link.

Everything you need to get going packed in a .zip file (except Wineskin) (alternative link)

If you want to download every file separate, here’s links to all of them:

• BNGatewayEditor (direct link)
• Tabbed Dia and config files (direct link)
• You can download the downloader .exe’s from http://battle.net, if you like.
• Optional: Registry File for connecting to Slash (direct link)

How to create a Wineskin wrapper to start off with:

Installing both Diablo 2 and Diablo 2 LoD in the wrapper:

1. Download the .zip file or download the files separately above.
2. Create a new wrapper.
3. In your new wrapper, click ‘Install Software’ -> ‘Choose Setup Executable’ and choose Downloader_Diablo2_enUS.exe. Install when downloaded using your 26-digit CD key.
4. Now right-click your .app-file and choose ‘Show package contents’, and open the file called ‘Wineskin.app'
5. Do the same as in step 4, but choose Downloader_Diablo2_Lord_of_Destruction_enUS.exe instead. Install when downloaded using your 26-digit CD key.
6. Now run the LODPatch_113c.exe as in step 4. The game will run automatically - but just exit the game (if you by accident click on 'Battle.NET', follow the steps just right below)

NOTE: If you by accident have patched the game to 1.13d by clicking Battle.NET, replace the game.exe in your D2 folder with the ‘game-lod.zip’ one, and then run ‘LODPatch_113c.exe’ within your wrapper using step 4 above.

1. Run the BNGatewayEditor.exe within your wrapper as shown in step 4 above, and follow this guide to connect to SlashDiablo: http://i.imgur.com/kjzKQ.jpg
2. Or alternatively: Run the .reg file provided above within your wrapper’s registry option: ‘Advanced’ -> ‘Tools’ -> ‘Registry Editor’ -> ‘Registry’ -> ‘Import Registry file…’)

Installing and running tabbed-dia and BH Maphack:

1. After doing all of the above, go into the ‘content’ folder of the .zip file you downloaded above, and copy or drag-and-drop everything to where your game.exe file is located (by clicking 'Show package contents' on your .app-file, then clicking drive_c and finding the location of your Diablo 2 folder).
2. In your wrapper (which you can find by following step 4 above), click ‘Advanced’ this time and choose tabbed_dia.exe as your Windows EXE. Close all windows.
3. Now, run your wrapper .app-file (NOT the wrapper.app file found through ‘Show package contents’), click the plus image in tabbed_dia, and when in-game, choose BH.dll in the dropdown-menu by clicking on the gear image in tabbed_dia.

Some problems that may occur:

1. If you’re given errors when trying to run Downloader_Diablo2_enUS.exe, Downloader_Diablo2_Lord_of_Destruction_enUS.exe or the LODPatch_113c.exe provided in the zip-file, download from battle.net and the links provided above. (Reported by /u/Short_Fuse)
2. Some users have reported not being able to control the game while tabbed (I can’t seem to find what the problem is, as this doesn’t occur for me).
